THE RADIO-CONTROLLED MODEL - A TOY BASED ON TESH - AN EMBODIMENT OF THE NEW ATV CONCEPT!

Our invention has already been used practically, since we have designed a number of radio-controlled models distinctive for:

design features of the model frame:
Solid frame - with buoyant tanks (an amphibian type) or without buoyant tanks
    Two articulated semi-frames:
detachable, with folding supports (YASHCHER System), and
non-detachable ones without supports, with buoyant tanks (an amphibian type) or without buoyant tanks
design features of the segment-rotation control mechanism:
Depending on how many modes can be supported:

    2-mode transformable worms
    roller/helix
    blade/helix
without a buoyant tank (land embodiment) or with a buoyant tank (amphibian embodiment)
    3-mode transformable worms
    roller/helix/blades (amphibian embodiment)

    Kinematic control schemes available:

Linear mechanism (each row of segments has its own pinion rack or cable)
Barrel - the in-barrel scheme (with the helical slots in the internal barrel, into which the pins of segments are inserted)
Since a simpler segment rotation kinematic scheme is employed in this model, then, under some difficult conditions, e.g. at moving on a loose or swampy ground, with support segments getting into it wholly, up to the barrel surface, transformations of TESH (shifting from one mode to another) are done simultaneously with the barrel turning.

Presumably, this is how the first model is going to look, with its protective cap designed in a military style, representing, basically, a fantastic combat machine, a tank of the future. It is designed to be a land vehicle on a solid frame with standard 2-mode TESH gears.

In the amphibian model all seams and joints of the TESH unit are watertight, and between the cap and the frame a rubber gasket is fitted, and the drive pulley shafts are equipped with glands, and additional buoyant tanks are placed on the frame (semi-frames) and in the middle of TESH barrel, in cavities free of segment-control mechanisms, to make the whole system more floatable. After the model has been launched, water leaks between the barrel wall and the buoyant tank through the holes via which the segment pins are inserted. As the vehicle gets ashore the water flows out from TESH barrels; to make this process faster it would be reasonable to add more holes on the barrel body. To successfully resist such a corrosive medium as water, the parts of TESH, including the segment-control mechanism, are made of materials with strong anticorrosive properties.
As far as YASHCHER System is concerned, the model differs from the prototype only by its inability to maneuver with the articulating hitch. In other respects the operation principles are the same as those described in the comments to Figs. 5-6 (Description of the Invention).
The following gears and devices are located on the frame (semi-frames) of the model protected by the cap: the main electric motor, which conveys torque to the TESH barrel through a belt drive, and the auxiliary electric motor, which makes segments of the helical blade turn. They form an electric loop; the model has two loops (since there are two TESH gears there), each having an individual power source. One of the loops comprises the radio control receiver. Each motor is reversible.
All the electric components can be provided by the customer himself/herself or selected by our specialists to meet the requirements that he/she may have for the model.
The parts of the transformable worm of the model can be made of stainless steel or plastic materials; the frame can be made of stainless steel or polymers; the cap can be made of plastic, polymers or wood. Since the cap combines the protective function (protection from foreign objects, dirt, moisture, etc. getting inside) with the decorative one, it can be manufactured in a military style, in some futuristic style, or in any other style, at customer's discretion.

This is why there will never be two identical models!

If the customer so desires, an extra TESH gear could be included in the delivery, so that when one of the transformable worms is replaced by this extra one, two mono-directional TESH gears would be fitted on the frame, which would change options of the system greatly (see the comments to Fig. 5 for details (Description of the Invention)).
Some of the assembly drawings of the first TESH model (0.5x0.5 m in size) are presented below.

Fig.1 - A land vehicle equipped with TESH.
Two opposite-directional TESH gears are on the solid frame, each barrel having three full turns, the helical blade comprising 24 segments.

Fig.2 - Cross-sectional view of a transformable 2-mode worm (blade/worm).
Inside the barrel there is an auxiliary motor, the so-called regulator, designed to turn the segments. There are S-shaped slots for this purpose, into which segments are inserted with some eccentricity. The left pulley is the segment control pulley, and we can turn it in either direction to move the regulator from right to left and from left to right respectively, making the pins in the S-shaped slots move and, accordingly, turn the segments, shifting TESH from one mode to the other. The right drive pulley rotates the entire TESH barrel.

We are going to design models with some clearance, i.e. models where a TESH barrel would be fixed to the frame with a single support embracing the barrel in the middle, rather than with two supports on its sides, as shown on the drawings above.
